Anderson’s mildly diverting work of science-fiction, portraying a post-apocalyptic society in which the inhabitants of an idyllic, sheltered city must give up their lives at the age of thirty, suffers from some rather earnest and melodramatic acting that makes some scenes unintentionally funny, but Ustinov deserves some praise.
