The ridiculously gorgeous Riseborough’s wonderful performance as the eponymous lady, Angelica Fanshawe, forms the heart of this entertaining mini-series, that takes a not-entirely-historically-accurate look at events of the English Civil War (1642–51); it garners acclaim for its bloody and unromantic depiction of death, violence, and war, but loses as much for its unrelentingly quick pacing, that gives the viewer little chance to breathe.
