John Carney’s beautiful film, an earthy musical depicting a chaste romance between an Irish busker and a Czech flower-seller, is like a breath of fresh air: a musical that is simultaneously romantic, credible, insightful, and, thanks in the main to Hansard’s emotion-drenched vocals, very very moving.
