Iñárritu’s multi-stranded and highly ambitious film, telling three disparate tales connected by a shooting in Morocco and infused with sadness, is a well-made, beautifully acted (particularly by the outstanding Rinko Kikuchi), quietly political, and devastatingly moving portrait of damaged souls and the things that damage them.
