An entertaining alien-invasion movie from Spielberg that benefits from excellent production values, spirited performances, and some atypically, for the genre at least, well drawn characters, and one that keeps us perched so attentively on the edge of our seats that we can forgive its plot holes and the horribly sentimental and rather silly final scene.
